About the Exhibition

In 2019 the artist was living in a small bungalow near the Mississippi River. Having become aware of Art Fairs, she wanted to attend the Art Basel Miami Fair but was prevented by lack of funds. The artist's creative nature however caused her previous tinkering with digital collage to become a focused project — and produced a series of 10 new pieces that hung on her living room wall. After photographing the art, the pieces were curated onto a blog. That “Art Basel Miami-TN” exhibition ran for 10 days coinciding with the same December schedule as the Miami Art Fair. “Little did I know that because of Covid my virtual art exhibition concept would become a thing 2 years after I did it! In retrospect it was provident that I didn't attend the Miami Fair because 2019 was the year of the infamous taped banana, and my art would've failed in comparison.” — Alice Shapiro
